Setting up each device
Choose the device you're setting up.
📱 Phone or tablet (iPhone, iPad, Android)
- In the parent app, tap Add child and enter their name.
- A secure QR setup code appears (good for 30 minutes).
- On your child's phone, open familyshield.app and download the free app.
- Open the app, tap Scan setup code, and point the camera at the QR code.
- Tap Allow to turn on protection. The device appears in your dashboard.
💻 Laptop or computer (Windows, Mac)
- In the parent app, tap Add child — a short setup code appears.
- On the computer, open familyshield.app and choose Computer to install.
- Open SafeShield and type in the setup code from your phone.
- Confirm — protection turns on for every browser and network.
📺 TV (Android/Google TV, Apple TV, Fire TV & more)
- In the parent app, add the child — a short setup code appears.
- On the TV, install SafeShield from its app store (or familyshield.app).
- Open the app and enter the code with your remote.
- Confirm — now set watching time and quiet hours for the TV.
Common questions
Does it work on mobile data, not just Wi-Fi?
Yes. Protection runs on the device itself, so your rules apply on Wi-Fi and mobile data alike.
Can my child just turn it off or delete it?
No — on Android, computers and supervised devices it's locked with your PIN and can't be removed, and you're alerted if anyone tries. (iPhone has some Apple limits we explain during setup.)
What happens if the device goes offline?
Your rules keep applying with no internet. If a device is taken offline to dodge control, it locks down until it reconnects.
How many devices can I protect?
Choose a plan for 1, 3, 5 or 10 devices — or contact us for schools and larger numbers.
Is my family's data private?
We only collect what's needed, never sell data, and you can export or delete everything anytime.

Android — quickest test
- Download the child APK on the child phone and open it.
- Allow installation for this demo when Android asks.
- Open the parent dashboard, create a test child and copy the setup code.
- Enter the code in the child app and accept the VPN permission.
Mac + iPhone/iPad
- Download the demo kit on the Mac and unzip it.
- Open Terminal in the project and run
bash tools/prepare-ios-test.sh. - In Xcode, choose your Apple Team and device, then press Run.
- Redeem a fresh setup code from the same parent test account.
Demo warning: Android APKs are debug builds and may require Android's “install unknown apps” permission. They are for your private test devices only. Use Google Play Internal testing and TestFlight for store-style testing.
